A great biodiversity…and a major place for tourist interest…
Senegal may not be the most beautiful nor the largest African country, it is, however, a rare place to offer such a wide range of ecosystems. The list is impressive: mountain, thick forest, sand dunes, mangrove, bush, lakes, rivers, savannah and ocean. These unforgettable sites will, for sure, bring you a complete change of scenery. Its numerous natural parks full of birds and big mammals, or its lovely beaches surrounded with diversified and lush vegetation will captivate you.
In its center, Senegal is cut by a little country called Gambia

From Casamanca to Saint Louis…Passing by the Little Coast and by Dakar…
Every region has its own eventful history and important people diversity; this contributes to a rich and varied culture. Casamanca (La Casamance), long snubbed by travelers because of repeated crises, reopens to public. It is one of the most beautiful parts of the country and, even though poachers have totally exterminated big mammals (lions, elephants, buffalos), fauna remains very rich in monkeys, antelopes, gazelles, crocodiles…
The Sine Salloum, with its thousands of isles and islets covered in land or mangrove, and the Little Coast with its tourist complexes are very popular. Dakar is a dynamic and modern capital city. In the North, Saint Louis, a mesmerizing city, spreads on the Senegal riverbanks.
Our advice
Senegal is one of the sunniest countries in the world: more than 3000 sunlit hours per year. There are two distinctive seasons:
-a rainy season, from June to October
-a dry season, from November to May, with temperatures between 22°C and 30°C, and important variations between seashore and inland.
Thus, we recommend you to travel during the dry season.
